Dark Castle Redraw

Inspired by the first concept piece I ever painted. I feel my skills have improved since I first started learning about concept art back in late 2019. I wanted to showcase the skill development through this recreation.

I attempted to show what I've learned when it comes to subject placement, rule of thirds, proportion, perspective, use of shape/form, and lighting. I also attempted to create a little bit more realism in this new piece. The original appears to look more cartoon-like.

Although I was proud of myself at the time when I made my first concept piece, I looked at it recently and thought of new ideas and ways that it could be reworked having the practice, skillset, and knowledge I gained over these past few years since 2019.

I have learned to be patient with myself when it comes to creating digital work. Skills and knowledge do not evolve overnight. It takes time to understand different techniques, practice, and find ways to evolve your style. I stay motivated by looking at artwork every day. So many talented artists inspire me. The artist community motivates me to push myself to refine my skillset and continue to learn.
